Our Story

It all started the way the best stories do πŸ˜‰ sweaty, sandy, and completely unplanned.

On June 2nd, 2017, we met at North Avenue Beach during an adult rec league volleyball game. (Yes, beach volleyball. Yes, we're that couple.) Neither of us had any idea that the day before Sean's birthday would turn out to be one of the most important days of our lives. We rang in Sean's birthday dancing the night away, which honestly feels very on-brand for us.

We quickly became really good friends, hitting up fun concerts like Taylor Swift's Reputation Tour, various Rod Tuffcurls and the Bench Press concerts, Colin Jost’s stand-up tour, and generally making the most of Chicago. Until a trip to Russia changed everything. The rest, as they say, is history. An extremely chaotic, adventure-filled history.

When COVID hit, we moved in together and nothing says "I love you" quite like sharing 850 square feet during a global pandemic and coming out the other side still actually liking each other. Then in January 2021, we got the baby, Nala, who has been running the household ever since and absolutely knows it.

In June 2023, we decided to pack up our Chicago lives and just... go. Like, go go. Over the next three years, we hopped across the globe with Nala in tow β€” MontrΓ©al, Bulgaria, Italy (basically all of Italy), Prague, Romania, Paris, Germany's Christmas markets, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Indonesia, India, Taiwan, Hong Kong... and that's not even all of it.

We spent three months putting down roots in Mexico City, exploring the food scene and the neighborhoods at our own pace. Then came Bangkok, where we spent a year and a half calling Southeast Asia home, using it as our base to explore the region while building a little life of our own.

In between, we collected moments we'll never forget. Hiking the Path of the Gods on the Amalfi Coast and eating our weight in pizza. Riding horses up Mount Vesuvius. Wandering through castles in Transylvania, raising steins at Oktoberfest, and getting lost in the magic of Germany's Christmas markets. Floating down the Mekong on a slow boat. Visiting elephant sanctuaries in Thailand and Laos. Watching the sun rise over Cappadocia from a hot air balloon. Camping under the stars in the Thar Desert. Swimming alongside manta rays in Nusa Penida and sea turtles in Gili Air. And one of the most meaningful trips of all β€” visiting Suzhou, China, the city where Lexi was born, and capturing it all in serious and hysterical photos together. Rolling out of our boat bed at 4am to climb to the top of the Komodo islands and watch the sun rise over the islands was equally unforgettable, the kind of serenity you can only experience in true nature, with no distractions and only nature in sight, plus a few dozen other tourists who also dragged themselves out of bed at 4am for their photo ops.

Along the way, we were lucky enough to be welcomed into some truly unforgettable celebrations β€” a wedding in Russia, one in Ireland, the most colorful wedding in India, two incredibly different cultural weddings on opposite sides of Turkey, a beautiful Thai ceremony, and a dozen back home in Chicago. Turns out watching other people say "I do" is great practice.

And now, here we are, in San Francisco πŸŒ‰ planning this wedding you're about to attend.

Nine years of friendship, love, and adventure β€” plus one very spoiled baby (hi, Nala 🐾) β€” and it's all led to this. We're getting married in Chicago, where it all began, and we couldn't be more excited to celebrate with the people who mean the most to us.

Thanks for being here and being a part of our story. Now let's party. πŸ₯‚

Frequently Asked Questions

Logistics & Travel

When and where is the wedding?

Our wedding is on Saturday, December 12, 2026, at The Blackstone Chicago, located at 636 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60605. The ceremony and reception will both take place at the venue. Timing details are coming soon β€” check back for updates!

What is the best way to get to the venue?

The venue is easily accessible by rideshare (Uber/Lyft are plentiful in Chicago) and we recommend this as the easiest option, especially if you plan to really enjoy Rod Tuffcurls and the Benchpress and the open bar! There is also very limited metered street parking, valet parking at the hotel for $32 or self-parking across the street at the Hilton Chicago for $39.

What should I expect weather-wise in Chicago in December?

Chicago in December is cold β€” temperatures typically range from 20–35Β°F (-7 to 2Β°C), and snow is always possible! We recommend bringing a warm coat, hat, and gloves for any time spent outdoors. The venue will be warm and cozy inside, so dress for the occasion and bundle up for the commute.

Ceremony & Reception

What time should I arrive?

Timing details are coming soon β€” we will update this page as soon as things are confirmed! We recommend giving yourself extra time to park or get dropped off, especially on a December Saturday in downtown Chicago.

Is the ceremony indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony and reception are both entirely indoors β€” no need to worry about the December weather once you're inside!

What is the dress code?

The dress code is Black Tie Optional. Tuxedos and formal gowns are absolutely welcome and encouraged β€” but a dark suit or formal cocktail dress is equally appropriate. We want everyone to feel elegant and comfortable celebrating with us at The Blackstone!

What time does the reception end?

The reception will wrap up at midnight. We plan to make every minute count, so bring your dancing shoes!

RSVPs & Meals

When is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP by November 1st. We need final head counts for our vendors by that date, so we cannot accommodate late RSVPs. If you miss the deadline, please reach out to us directly at lexiandseanwedding@gmail.com and text Lexi at 773.558.9132.

How do I RSVP?

You can RSVP directly on this website. If you experience any issues, please email us at lexiandseanwedding@gmail.com or text Lexi at 773.558.9132 and we will get you taken care of.

What if I have a food allergy or dietary restriction?

Please note any allergies or dietary needs in the comments field when you RSVP, or email us at lexiandseanwedding@gmail.com. We will pass all requirements along to our caterer to ensure everyone is accommodated safely.

Children at the Wedding

Are children invited?

We love all the little ones in our lives β€” truly! However, due to our venue's strict capacity limits, we are only able to accommodate the guests listed on your invite link. If you need help finding childcare resources in the Chicago area, please don't hesitate to reach out and we will do our best to help.

Please note that this applies to all guests, including infants and toddlers. We so appreciate your understanding and can't wait to celebrate with you!

Gifts & Registry

Do you have a registry?

This is TBD, at the moment we will be setting up a honeymoon fund/travel fund.

Should I bring my gift to the wedding?

We kindly ask that gifts be shipped directly to us rather than brought to the venue β€” it makes things much easier on the day! Plus we'd have to get it from Chicago to SF and we'll have limited luggage space. Our shipping address is 600 Oak St, Apt 25, San Francisco, CA 94117. Of course, cards are always welcome at the wedding.

Photos & Phones

Is this an unplugged ceremony?

Yes! We are asking guests to please put phones and cameras away during the ceremony so you can be fully present with us in the moment. Our incredible photographers and videographers will capture everything beautifully. Feel free to snap all the photos you want at the cocktail hour and reception β€” we love seeing your perspective on the night!

Plus-Ones & Guest List

Can I bring a plus-one?

Due to our venue capacity, we are only able to host invited guests. If your invitation is addressed to you and a guest, you are welcome to bring one additional person. If you have questions about your specific invitation, please reach out to us directly at lexiandseanwedding@gmail.com.

Still Have Questions?

What if my question isn't answered here?

We are happy to help! Please reach out to us at lexiandseanwedding@gmail.com and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We cannot wait to celebrate with you in Chicago!

With so much love, Lexi & Sean
